We're excited to compete again in the 2026 National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI of MN) RotY Awards. Last year HyggeHus brought home 4 Gold awards, including Best in Show, a feat cherished by our team of skilled field and office staff, from sales to carpenters, a well planned remodel brought to fruition with creativity, ingenuity, integrity, and hygge of course!

This Falcon Heights 1940s home was steeped in character, with graceful curved openings, narrow-plank floors, and period correct trim work that celebrated its timeless charm. For the family who calls it home, it was nearly perfect — except for one thing: the kitchen fell far short of meeting their daily needs. Our vision was to create a kitchen that offered more space and function without overwhelming the home’s modest scale. Instead of building something grandiose, we sought balance — a design that would feel as though it had always belonged. The palette was grounded in neutrals chosen for their longevity, then brought to life with the client’s favorite shade of green, a choice that introduced an organic sensibility and a refreshing sense of nature. Paired with the abundant light streaming through its many windows, the result is a kitchen that feels both timeless and alive, honoring the home’s history while enriching its future.
Hickory Home was awarded Gold for Entire House Remodel $250,000-$500,000
This 1800s Mahtomedi home, rich with generations of memories and layered with additions over time, was ready to welcome its next chapter. The new generation envisioned a home that honored its history while adapting to modern living. Our goal was to improve functionality for decades to come, while preserving and building upon the charm and character that defined the residence. The remodel included a thoughtful kitchen addition, a reimagined front entry with adjacent modifications, and a complete second-floor tear-out that introduced a major structural challenge. The result is a home that balances heritage and innovation — a place where timeless character and modern comfort coexist.
About Nari Roty Awards
The Remodeler of the Year (RotY) Awards are the premier awards for the remodeling industry. Minnesota awards a RotY Award for excellence in a variety of categories including whole house, historical renovation, kitchen, bath, addition, and more. Each winner is selected by a blind peer-review process by NARI members from another state. These judges are experts in the remodeling industry and they receive formal training to perform the judging.
Judging Criteria: Entries are judged on meeting client goals, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and innovation.
